LANA's Annual Directors' Meeting
/By Julia Elliott – July 17, 2022
In order to gather the entire LANA Board of Directors from around the country and South America, the 2022 Annual Directors' Meeting was held via video-conferencing. Members in attendance were:
Debbie Barford (IL), Diane Barnes (NY), Nancy Carpenter (MI), Julia Elliott (MA), Sheila Johns (Ecuador), Margo Ketchum (PA), Colleen Shetland (NY), and Sally Willig (NJ)
The first order of business was to re-elect Board members whose terms expired this year. Diane Barnes and Julia Elliott have agreed to serve on the Board for another three years, and they were unanimously re-elected.
During our June 2022 Board meeting, Wendy Polich was gratefully acknowledged as her time of service on the LANA Board came to a close. Wendy served two three-year board terms and was involved in many of the aspects of the work of our Association. At this time, the LANA Board is seeking one more member to further the work of the Lyre Association of North America. Please see Nancy Carpenter’s invitation to join the LANA Board, included in this edition of Lyre Notes.
All four LANA officers for 2021 have agreed to continue in their positions. The Board unanimously approved the renewal of their one-year terms. The slate of officers for 2022 is as follows:
Nancy Carpenter, President
Sheila Johns, Vice President
Margo Ketchum, Treasurer
Julia Elliott, Secretary
Margo Ketchum, Treasurer, offered an overview of LANA’s 2021-2022 finances, reporting that the organization is financially healthy and is well-situated to support the work of the lyre in North America and abroad during the coming year. Margo noted that she was particularly pleased that LANA had been able to spearhead a crowdfunding campaign to support Manfred Bleffert, whose home and instrument workshop were destroyed in the August 2021 floods in Germany. With the generous support of LANA members and the larger lyre community, the campaign raised $4,730 for the Bleffert family. The LANA Board is proud to be have been part of the support and compassion offered by the international Movement for Musical Renewal community to Manfred and his family.
