Lyre Day Greetings from around the World
/We are so pleased to see all the appreciative and supportive comments from various parts of the world! Amazingly, it is clear that we ended up touching and involving more people many times over than if we had held our original conference in person. Under normal circumstances, this would never be a true substitute, of course, but it has nevertheless proven to be a very satisfying and rewarding alternative in this particular year. Bravo and gratitude to all!

I extend my heartfelt thanks to everybody who got this day together and planned it so well! I was very touched to see so many friends on Zoom, and particularly to hear Christof-Andreas Lindenberg’s voice.

Lyre world day . . . In these days - beginning this Monday - the lyre sounds in our house within. An activity as marvelous as thinkable: A youngster of 9 years comes for 4 days every morning to have a sound-epoque. We explore, how music originates from sound and silence. He comes with his donator, his grandma. Herzlicher Gruß! ¡Les saludo!

I thought I would describe my usual Monday evening activity. I am part of a local orchestra for anyone of any ability, instrument , age. Pre COVID 19 days there would be 35 to 45 people gathering, aged from 16 to 81. Now we meet in 3 groups of 10. Tonight there was cello, viola, violin, recorder, flute, lyre. Our musical director is very skilled at arrangements; at times I cannot hear myself at all, yet other times I am playing several bars alone, or with 1 or 2 others, and the lyre can shine briefly, then merge again in a wonderful ensemble.
Earlier in the day I appreciated playing some of the music resources suggested for the day; thank you. In the afternoon I spoke to Berta Silberer, now 96. Berta told me she remembered Channa from the lyre conferences she attended. This morning Berta was playing her lyre. Berta sends greetings!
Many greetings to you all, -Dorothy and Murray Wright

Greetings from Malaysia! We held our simple and yet beautiful lyre day on the morning of 26th July 2020 (Sunday), together with young lyrist, Sylvia and her mother, Shirlyn. Sylvia and I explored many pieces of music together; while her mother, Shirlyn gave her very first try to play a pentatonic lyre! After playing lyre, we had a deep listening relaxation moment, by laying down and closing eyes, and then I played "Sunstream" by Channa Seidenberg, "Morning Light" by Colin Tanser, and "Peace" by John Billing.
Deeply thankful and appreciate to LANA for the calling of International Lyre Day and providing the beautiful music and inspiring verse and article. They are so precious!
With a flower, Ching

Just to say, what wonderful organisation for Lyre Day!
Thank you so much. It was such an interesting process for me to start experiencing playing the lyre in the last few days. During that time I was holding Channa also in my thoughts, and finally was able to start playing by first reading and then by sitting silently for a while with “Be Still…” After that, I spent time playing ‘random’ notes, before starting rather timidly with “Though in Noon’s Heaven” – and experienced so much energy! It was a joy to continue, even with my rather ‘rusty’ fingers, and I later reflected on what it might be like to be able to experience the intervals in “For the American Friends” slowly and consciously. I hope to spend time this summer doing that, and am very grateful for this opportunity.
Sending warm wishes to all!

" Yes" my Lyre is very much in hand, and I’ve been sharing with friends that July 20 is International Lyre Day….and I say Channa's name often as my teacher who gave me my basics.
I am sure the work of all of you in the Lyre Association is part of creating a new, more inclusive, humanity… " We are children of one family. We are all children of of God.” It is more important, now more than ever, that the Lyre Work sound forth.

Hi Dear Friends! I intend to take part of the International Lyre Day on July 20. I will be alone at home, because we are isolated due do Covid 19. -Kind regards!

Dear All, I will come in when I can. Your 10:00 am start is a bit early for me in New Zealand as there is an 8 hour difference. For me it would be 2am!
For the 3:00 pm zoom gathering it would be 7:00 am for me which could mean you'd catch me in my dressing gown. Being mid winter here it's pretty cold that time of morning and our houses are not centrally heated. -Warm regards!

Dear Friends, I will gladly be in with all who participate in this activity. Whether there will be more people I cannot say because of corona restrictions. Looking forward a lot.

Hallo, Just to wish that all goes well for the meetings of lyre players in this strange time.
Edeline in N. Ireland has recorded herself singing some of Colin’s songs and Camphill festival songs which I manage to play to him through a WhatsApp video call to the Nursing Home, which is helpful for him.
I have told him about the July 20th event, and that some of his music will be played. I still can’t visit and be with him, since March 23rd which was our wedding anniversary. So rather sad times, but we both wish you all well. -Greetings Jennie

Dear Lyre Players around the world, what a wonderful day! It streams in with Veronika's initiative to have the lyre sounding throughout the world, a tone always sounding somewhere. Now there will be a healing day for the world and we can all think of each other with warmth and gratitude.
Christof-Andreas and I will play at home and call on Channa to peep in! Sound well! -Norma
Nicholas Morrow, Yelm, WA - nicholasmorrow1@icloud.com
I am looking forward to participating. I have not played the lyre but earlier in my life I made them, small ones and large ones.
I live in Yelm, Washington about a hour and a half from Seattle. I am an ASA member but have not connected with anybody in the area as of yet. I’ve enjoyed participating in the conferences and activities online in the last year. Blessings!

In today's “drop-in” (online) practice session for the Uncovering the Voice work, we began by marking Channa's birthday and honoring Channa's influence as a mentor to many of us on our own paths. We read the verse on Listening to connect our singing work to Lyre Day.
