Lyre Mantle of Sound Around the Earth
/Dear Friends of the Lyre,
It has been almost six weeks since we started our lyre mantle project, with a vision of having the lyre sound around the globe each day. I have received many responses to my proposal from lyrists all over the world. A number of people who responded indicated the times when they would plan to play, and some just indicated their intention to join our efforts by playing during this time as they were able.
I am aware that there are many players who are joining our efforts by invitation from others in their area, particularly in Asia, where an online version of this invitation created by lyrist Thomas Pedroli through the efforts of Vicky Deng of the Lyre Center in Zhuhai has evidently generated the interest of over 600 people! 21 days of lyre playing

Last Tuesday, we completed our online event of 21 days of lyre playing to create a mantle of lyre sound around the world. On Facebook I posted following message:
21 DAYS OF LYRE SOUND AROUND THE WORLD COMPLETED
More than 600 people followed our event on the internet platform. On the map below (no corona this time 😉) you see participation in most prefectures). Furthermore, lyre players in Singapore, Malaysia, Germany joined in. Some just listened to one of the six online events, others were playing every day in their homes, others posted their lyre-playing for others to listen, but however – a beautiful energizing wave of lyre sounds was spreading around the country and bringing moments of stillness and beauty of art we need so much in this times!
The playing of lyre in life situations is irreplaceable. This time we saw, the internet can help us to make it possible and to support the feeling of being connected all around the world in the healing sound of the lyre.

So what can we imagine moving forward? My original request was simply for people to commit to play at a certain time between 5 and 9pm (15h and 21h) local time - any music, not only what has been sent out with these emails, and for an indefinite number of days. Our world situation has hardly changed over the last two months, and it is likely to change only very slowly in the months ahead, so it would be my hope that we would continue our commitment to send our sounding into the ether to support the ongoing creation and strength of a healing "lyre mantle" around the globe. The additional benefit of this is that such activity will also help us to feel connected at a time of unprecedented isolation for all of us.
According to the time indications I have received, it looks like together, we are covering the time from when it is 5pm in Israel until the time when it is 9pm in California and Canada. That is a total time span of 12 hours, which is magnificent! Including the many people who are also playing in Japan and China and other parts of Asia, we are probably covering another 6 hours, leaving an opening of one hour between Israel and China, and another five hours between Japan and California/Canada.
Does anyone know of lyre players in the middle east in the area between Israel and China or perhaps any lyre player who is located on the islands between Japan and the west coast of North America? It would be lovely to invite any such players in these locations to join our efforts as well.
We have already passed on some music that has been composed or arranged for this particular time, and it would be wonderful to share more music of this nature as well as any music that is inspiring us right now! You may send any contributions (that are your own or free from copyright restrictions) to the Lyre Association of North America (lyrists@gmail.com), and we will forward them to everyone.
So let us continue with our playing, having the intention to use the blessed tones of the lyre to support the health and happiness of people throughout our world toward a time of healing, peace, and universally shared prosperity.
