A Call for Hosts! – International Lyre Day, July 20

Dear friends,

By now, each of you will have received the announcement and invitation to participate in our re-visioned summer lyre conference – the LANA 2020 International Lyre Day on Monday, July 20th. We are hoping to attract the participation of lyrists from all over the world for this special event!

As you will recall from our earlier mailing, we are inviting players to participate in any way that they are able, including from their own homes, but we are offering particular encouragement for lyrists to physically gather with one or more local players in order to re-establish and strengthen our sense of community and the harmony of lyre tones sounding together.

With this communication, we would like to take another step by encouraging all of our members and friends to consider whether you might be willing to be a host in your local area for this event. As a host, you may establish any protocols with which you feel comfortable, including the maximum number of people you are inviting and for which hours, whether you wish to include any kind of food proposal, your conditions for physical distances to be maintained or not, and your conditions for the wearing of masks or not. We will also need to know your location, your contact information, and if you have options for people to stay overnight, either with you or in the nearby area.

NEXT STEPS:

Can you host a meeting? Regardless of where you live in the world, if you are willing to be listed as one of our hosts, please fill out and submit our survey form by July 1st so that LANA can publish a list of the hosts and their general locations with a link to further details so you can choose to contact the host directly if you wish. In this way, LANA would like to try to support our members and friends in connecting with one another and planning to get together if they wish.

Support packets: By the end of next week, we will email music, suggested readings, and a further proposal to greet each other from wherever we are via a brief Zoom call that day. We are hopeful to be able to add this element of connection and shared purpose to this special lyre event!

Thank you for taking a minute to look at our survey and consider whether you would like to answer this Call for Hosts for our 2020 International Lyre Day on July 20th!

With best regards,
The Board of the Lyre Association of North America
